The Mission of the Family Technology Resource Centers (FTRC) is to provide educational achievement opportunities for all community members by leveraging local, regional and federal resources and community partnerships.

The FTRC model, in operation since 1996, is both elegant and powerful in its simplicity.  It is today implemented in 24 DeKalb County locations, eight Georgia satellite sites and multiple states, The program keeps school facilities and community centers open after traditional hours in safe environments where families can learn together. The communities served by each FTRC utilize school district resources such as hardware, software, facilitiy and staff, when students and staff are not using them.

Some of our successes include:

·        7,000 families participated in the FTRC during the 2001-2002 school year

·        1,200 families participated during the summer of 2002

·        Improved job status (raises and promotions) for employed citizens

·        Jobs for persons previously unemployed, parental involvement in the classrooms, improved test scores for students,

·        Significant volunteerism in FTRC communities by FTRC participants (600,000 participant hours since 1996).
